I was born in Sutton Coldfield, a suburb of Birmingham, to Lloyd and Bernadette Chevannes. My mother is Malaysian Chinese and my father is Jamaican, which makes me … a confusing mix!! Or "Blackanese" if you are a fan of Chris Tucker in Rush Hour! I have two older brothers, Clint and Wystan, whom are both doctors. I attended my local junior school - New Oscott Junior School until the age of 11 when I moved to King Edward VI High School for Girls, Edgbaston.

During my teens, I seemed to be interested in everything! I started playing the piano and violin and before I knew it, I had achieved grade 8 in both! My love of sport led me to become part of the school netball, hockey, tennis, swimming, rounders and athletics teams. Being spotted and invited to try out for county and England teams in these sports was a dream for me but unfortunately when I was 14 I obtained a nasty ankle injury in a school tennis cup match. I pulled out of the athletics competition in Alexander Stadium that year and my sporting life died down.

This may have been a blessing in disguise as I spent more time on education so I could get great GCSEs and A levels to enable me to follow my real dream - to become a doctor. In October 2005, this dream became very real when I started at St. George's Hospital Medical School in London, which was voted the best medical school in the country the previous year. I am still studying there and loving every minute. My desire to help people was clear when I became a qualified life guard and a private tutor. I hope to one day maybe become a psychiatrist or paediatrician. A big contrast but as I said, I am into everything!
